I’m Ahmad Aloumi

An Assistant Professor of Visual Communication Design at the School of Architecture, Kuwait University, and a practicing designer with a focus on identity systems, product design, and cultural narratives.

With over two decades of experience spanning academia and professional practice, my journey began with a passion for design that led me from interior design and art education in Kuwait to advanced studies in the US and UK. I hold a Ph.D. in Design from Bournemouth University, where I explored the impact of color contrast on the complexity of design, and an MFA in Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology, with a focus on visual timing and perception.

My work today bridges theory and practice. In the classroom, I guide students through foundational design principles while encouraging experimentation, real-world thinking, and digital literacy. Outside academia, I continue to lead and develop creative work through CUT Kuwait, a design and production studio I founded in 2014, and Khat Gallery, a brand rooted in cultural storytelling and modern aesthetics.

I’ve served in leadership roles at the university, chaired key committees, and participated in national design competitions and reviews. My research and creative practice are informed by multicultural experiences, academic rigor, and a deep commitment to visual communication as a tool for clarity, emotion, and impact.

This site is a space to share my academic path, research, projects, and the ideas that continue to shape my work.
